Direct imports
Pharmacy
Direct import consists in importing medicines that are not allowed to be marketed in Poland.
Direct import may include medicinal products that meet the following criteria:

their use is necessary to save the patient’s life or health,
-
the medicinal product is allowed to be marketed in the country from which it is imported,
-
has a valid permit for marketing in the country, from which it is imported,
-
its equivalent, i.e. a medicine with the same active substance, form and dose (strength), cannot be allowed in Poland.
The permit to import a given medicine on the direct import basis is granted by the minister of health.
The basis for importing medicines from abroad is the demand of a hospital or a doctor conducting treatment outside the hospital, confirmed by a consultant in a given field of medicine (national or provincial consultant competent for the seat of the medical entity running the hospital or for the patient's place of treatment).
